AutoSense has appointed Steve Fielding as Chief Revenue Officer, strengthening its leadership team as the fleet safety provider accelerates its growth across Australia and New Zealand.
Fielding joins AutoSense following more than two decades of experience spanning transport operations, fleet technology, SaaS and commercial leadership. Most recently, he served as Executive General Manager at New Zealand logistics business Netlogix, with responsibility across its $110 million revenue business, including transport operations, customer service and commercial performance.
Prior to Netlogix, Fielding spent almost five years as Head of Growth and Retention (ANZ) at transport technology company EROAD, where he led a large sales and customer growth team across the transport, fleet, construction and government sectors. During his tenure, he played a central role in scaling the business, which grew to support a customer base of more than 6,000 organisations.
In his new role, Fielding will lead AutoSense’s commercial and growth strategy across Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on customer success, partnerships and market development.
Speaking on his appointment, Fielding said, “I’m most looking forward to the opportunity to help scale a business that already has a strong reputation, great people, and genuinely differentiated capability.
AutoSense sits at an interesting intersection of technology, fleet safety, and risk management, and I think there is a significant opportunity to bring those elements together in a way that creates measurable value for customers.”
AutoSense CEO Charles Dawson, said Fielding’s combination of commercial, technology and frontline transport experience will be particularly valuable as AutoSense continues to build its presence in Australia.
“Steve understands our customers’ world from both sides – the operational realities of running fleets and the opportunity technology and data provide to reduce risk, improve driver outcomes and make better decisions,” Dawson said.
“As we set our sights on ambitious growth in Australia, Steve’s experience scaling technology businesses, building strong customer relationships and leading transport operations will be invaluable.”
This partnership-led approach is already delivering measurable safety benefits for major transport operators across Australia and New Zealand. Working with AutoSense, Mainfreight Australia saw fatigue events fall by more than 94 percent, per 10,000km driven, over seven years.
Across its wider customer base, AutoSense currently supports 789 fleets across Australia and New Zealand, with 7000 drivers supported with Guardian by Seeing Machines
and Vision cameras.
Fielding said the appointment comes at a time when transport operators are under increasing pressure to balance safety and compliance requirements with challenging commercial conditions.
“Operators are dealing with rising costs, tighter margins, driver shortages and growing expectations around safety. At the same time, they are surrounded by more technology and data than ever before,” Fielding said.
“The real opportunity is turning that technology and data into practical action that improves safety, productivity and ultimately the economics of running a fleet.”
Fielding’s initial focus will be on AutoSense’s biggest growth opportunities, strengthening its go-to-market approach and continuing to improve the customer experience.
